This department goes beyond the usual definition in choosing its stock. You can find abundant selections of ajuga, ivy, wintercreeper, pachysandra, and vinca. But you can also pick out plants like lady's mantle and hostas which cover ground by increasing their girth rather than running roughshod over their neighbors. There is a variety of less common spreaders such as creeping thyme, sedum, lamium, lamb's ears, and creeping phlox. Two natives of the woodland, foam flower and sweet woodruff, make their way into the inventory as well.
