Houseplants
selects high quality foliage and specimen plants, orchids, cactus,
and hanging baskets. The selection varies each year. Last year there
were more than 700 plants.
This
year, we’re gong to try picking a group of plants that will
appeal to children.
There
will be lots of succulents--bromeliads with colorful leaves and
some flowers--cacti without thorns but with wild shapes, cacti with
thorns (to teach kids and parents to be careful), strings of pearls,
rosary plants, burro’s tails, and pussy-toe kalanchoes (if
we can find them!).
For
everyone there will be orchids, some perfumed, but all beautiful.
We’ll have several kinds of jasmine, shrub and vining, with
amazing aroma all summer long, whether inside or outside.
We
hope to get a few different colors of passion flower vines and indoor
hibiscus and small citron trees (fruiting and flowering).
And
as always, we’ll get many ferns, begonias, and African violets
and anything that isn’t commonplace.
